New User Upload-able Photo Gallery Online
« on: April 06, 2008, 08:26:05 PM »

Just added to the live website is a new photo gallery at http://www.mudduckaviation.com/cpg/index.php.  The new gallery will host all of the previous gallery photos and some photos I dug out of the archives.

Best of all the new gallery allows anyone to post comments to pictures and if you are registered you can upload your photos to the "Customer" categories that are already created, OR, you can create your own album for your Duck in the "User Albums" section.

If you have already registered for the forums you are automatically registered for the gallery, and likewise, if you register on the gallery you will also be registered on these forums.

The new gallery has a help menu to help answer common questions.  If you still have trouble using the new gallery email me or post them here and I will try to answer them.

Enjoy!

Greg

I have increased the file size limits for files in order to allow videos to be posted as well.  The drawback to this is that users are, at the same time, capable of uploading a single image on multiple megabytes which will eat up my server space unnecessarily.  So in order to provide room for video postings please make sure you edit and post images (at least) less than 500 KB (>200 KB should be adequate in most cases).

Side Note:
I am giving myself a crash-course on implementing many of these website applications and trying to provide visitors and users with the easiest and most rewarding experience I can.  Luckily, there are many great open-source software applications out theere and I have settled on the ones implemented here, but apparently I have some limitations in controlling some administrative functions, like distinguishing which file formats can have different file size limitations.  Hence, I need the users to be moderate in the size of files they post and avoid posting over-sized files.  I do have administrative controls to edit and delete any files, but I want to avoid having to adjust or edit users uploads.

I believe this won't be a big deal overall, I just wanted to ask for the users understanding.  I have plenty of storage space so please don't hesitate posting what you have, just be aware of the file size you are posting.

Thanks,
Greg
