My New Mud Duck
« on: November 02, 2009, 02:55:58 PM »

Hi!  I just bought a built Duck (the BIG one!).  It is nicely built with an Enya 80 4 cycle on it, Futaba servos and receiver.  It has some hanger rash (tail struts need regluing and the elevator hinge points have come out.  They also need regluing.)  But once that stuff is done I want to give her a flight.  The main question I have is simply:

Where is the CG?

I know this is simple and I can guesstimate it, but I'd rather know what the designer says.  Thanks!

Rick,

Sorry for the delay, I didn't know there was a post here until now... I answered your post on RCU:

It seems like forever, but I finally had a successful maiden.  When I changed the Enya 80 for an OS 91 four stroke, I found the builder had placed a slab of lead weighing 2 pounds and 3 ounces under the motor!  No wonder it was nose heavy!  With that weight removed and the 10 ounces of lead I had placed on the tail also removed, the balance was good, and the flight was also good.  Lots of fun!

MUD DUCK SUCCESS!!! Finally!

 Grin

Congrats and Enjoy!!!  It flew great and roughly 3 pounds of weight removed will always result in a better flying plane... even a Mud Duck.   I wish you many years of fun and joy from your Duck!  As a side note, you really need to oil that noisy zoom servo motor on that camera Wink

Thanks for posting the video!
