Limited CricKit kits still available
« on: March 07, 2008, 04:05:25 PM »

Just an FYI...  I scraped together several CricKit kits for anyone interested in the design.  These kits are 95% complete, but each are missign a few pieces of balsa and hardwood sticks maybe $5-$10 worth or less at your local hobby shop.

Once I sell the remaining kits it is unlikely they will return in the form of a kit again.  Due to several requests though I will be drawing up plans for the CricKit (no, none currently exist to build from) design for plan builders.

Hi Stefan,

The CricKit was originally designed around (and to balance with) an Enya .15 which is heavy for a .15 size motor.  The CricKit can fly on a smaller motor and is even more docile that way.  The more wild you want it to be the more power you can add, but it was already a handful with the .15 in it.

Hi Stefan,

I haven't heard of anyone flying this indoors.  It is fast if you build it in it's original design (without the "calming" mods included in the flyer).  You're in unchartered "indoor" territory Smiley.  I was going to be working on some FFF and Depron versions of Mini- and Micro- Mud Ducks and Agri-Ducks, this season myself.  I will be posting the progress somewhere on these forums (might have to make an new subject board).

Hi RTT,

Thank you for your purchase!  The .15LA should be fine as the CricKit can handle a range of engines.  Before I send your order, I do want to make sure you read the description for the CricKit.  The CricKit is quite the hyperactive plane and designed to be unstable, unlike all it's "Duck" siblings. If you are comfortable with a squirrely plane, then the CricKit is right up your alley!

Most people want to "tame" the CricKit which isn't an easy thing to do due to its design.  The easiest thing to do is go with less engine and stretch the plane to accomplish two things: balance the much lighter engine and to increase the moment of the tail so it isn't so short coupled.  But as you see, "taming" the CricKit almost becomes a lesson in re-engeneering and more work which the kit was intended to save you from.

Thanks again,
Greg

yes this is the plane i want. i am more of a warbird and gee bee y pilot i used to fly the big bee and that was what i was looking for then i came by your post on RC universe on the plans for a mud duck mk II and feel in loved with it. i was looking for something different. our Field was taken away from us here in Laredo TX and now we have to travel about 59 miles to a small town that has an airport and they let us use on the weekends and i want to have good looking bird to get people out there and maybe make our club grow.

thanks
