Cartoon - Scale inspired Mud ducks?
« on: May 18, 2009, 09:16:33 AM »

Taking the idea of flying cartoon aircraft further and a look for likely scale inspired suspects for the Mud Duck treatment.
Casting around I found these............. enjoy and add more please if you know of more...... just remember the Duckboard, foam or correx build requirment and look for that certain Duck style in subject selection. Grin

Using the basic present mud duck air frame/wings the following multies came to mind as electric motors can be fixed to the 4 innner wing ribs and LE with only sight modification and Nose as in the Fokker/ford Trimotors. Its also a spin off from the RC groups Duck discussion............here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=613143&page=7 and an Avro Bison Shocked here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1035197&page=2

Perhapse we can set up a poll if the idea works Greg?size=10pt]

Ok there is also a whole new world in Ducks out there ......Biplane & Sequiplane ducks!

WW1 inspired ............ many a monster has made a good model and this ones got the looks for this job http://www.aviastar.org/air/usa/christmas_bullet.php needs a bigger tail thats all. Wink

and from the Axis we have http://www.aviastar.org/air/germany/germania_jm.php pict. Below

Another contemporary biplane that hit me was a simpler more aerobatic duck based on a cartoon Sorrel Hyperbipe  Shocked just needs feeding up bit Roll Eyes..........  http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=498649 and Rotorhieds foamy in particular http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=846769 clipping the wing tips might be required but the Jed wing can work coved with film!

Now that's neat!  That looks like it came right out of the Mud Duck hangar Shocked.  It has the characteristic flying tail even (even though it's in the front), the cubed body, I would be pressed to come up with any other distinguishing features of the Ducks other than the landing gear and wheels Roll Eyes.

Where did you find this gem? Huh

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

A low wing triple http://www.aviastar.org/air/england/helmy_aerogypt.php

Hell, Greg If you dont do a FW f19 Flying-Duck I will............ I would go as far as making it a priority to produce a test model, with an eye to a producing a plan Cool, its so right its sure to be a winner. Im going to ask my canard expert friends about the set up and calculating the C of G. the main wheels tend to be close to the point due to the need to rotate on take off.

Meantime Ive found a Racer Duck - anyone for a Rush'ian around Duck  http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=http://www.airwar.ru/enc/la/mai58.html&rurl=translate.google.com    http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=http://www.airwar.ru/main.html&rurl=translate.google.com

Burneli Ducks

Now way back in that initial RC groups thread I nominated the Burnelli biplane but perhapse its this later version that would make the best Duck variant.

The only fudge requirement Huh would be to use stock wings on a new Burnelli'esque fuselage Wink http://www.aircrash.org/burnelli/mod_rb2st.htm

I don't know... I think this one would require some pointy wings closer to scale but emplying some version of the "Pin-N-Fly" attachment method.
