Foam Board

I bought a set of Mud Duck Plans many years ago when it was reveiwed in Model Aviation (I think). Having built a LT-40 to train on, I now want to build the Mud Duck (I love LARGE airplanes). I am trying to find foam board locally (I live in East Central Iowa). Not having much luck. I am told Office Depot has this material, but I haven't located a store near by yet. I also see there are sources on the internet, but I try not to use them unless I absolutely have too. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ron.
PS. Is the 40" x 60" x 3/16" the size I should look for?

Hi,
Thanks for purchasing the plans, glad to see you are finally getting to build one. The 40" x 60" x 3/16" is the size most commonly available that meets the minimum requirements to cut out the wing panels in one piece.
Office Depot may have it in this size but it is more likely to carry smaller sizes, although others have found it there. It seems to depend on local demand whether they stock the larger sizes.
A sure-fire supplier close to you is find your local sign shop (check your yellow pages). nearly all sin shops use this in these size sheets (or larger, which they will cut down for you if you can't fit 4'x8' in your car)to back signs, etc.. Anyway, they may not have it sitting in the showroom for sale as it is consumed by them and you will have to ask for 3 sheets (@ 40x60) and they will charge you far less than it will cost you to purchase on the internet. In fact you will have to probably buy at least 25 sheets and pay more for shipping than for the actual product if you order from the internet.
Hope this helps!
Greg

Greg - Thanks for the hint finding foam board at sign shops. I think there is a Sign Pro just a few blocks from where I work. I'll check it out. Thanks, Ron

Foamcor can be bought at BLICK ART SUPPLY STORES. The company has a web site with a store locator. Stores are located in most major cities. I bought my 40 x 60 from them at $11.00 p/sheet. You can also buy a 3 pack of 30 x 40 from STAPLES at a cost of $21.00. Hope this helps.
