Greg, what do you think about getting a MDA event going sometime in the future. Our club ran the SPADFEST for several years and had a blast doing it. The event now travels so that more people can get a chance to attend. Just a thought.

Yeah, I have had this run through my head several times, and it has been discussed with a few other Duck builders. I am in New Jersey and I know of a handfull of "Duckers" in the tri-state area that would like to do this around here. I may be able to persuade my club into allowing me to host an event, I would have to probably "grease the wheels" with some of the club body though for it to be welcomed and not seen as something burdening them and loosing a day of flying if they don't have a Duck.
There is also a small club in upstate NY that is doing a group build this winter of several Duck's (all the designs) and they intend to incorporate them into club fun-flys, so maybe they would be interested in something as well or a fall back if I can't do anything with my club. I get a lot of traffic on the website and hear from many Duck builders around the country (and world), but since it has been so long since kits were available, the number of possible attendees for other locations around the country may be small at the moment. Once I get kits online again, I think that may be more feasible.
But that is one of the reasons I added these forums, to provide a community for other Duck builders to get together to help each other and spur new ideas and quite possible to meet up with one another to fly. I would like to see something too, and I think a Northeast fly-in may be possible this season, especially if I get my club involved.

Greg, it might be possibly to include Mud duck fliers with the Spad festival since we are now including foam aircraft and your designs are definitely in the spad spirit. I am not sure where it will be this year but it is usually centrally located. Let me run the idea by some of the organizers and see what they think. The event is usually held the first week of June.

Sweet! I would be grateful for anything you can do to promote Mud Duck Aviation. I would also be happy to donate some plans as pilot prizes for the event if the organizers sent a request.

Thanks for the offer Greg, I am sure they will take you up on that. My club ran this event for three years so we have a voice in the event. What my be a good idea is to have a best duck competition to get a few spadders building your designs. Once I post a build thread I would think a lot of guys will be looking at these. Your Ducks have been out of the mainstream for a few years so it's about time they showed up again. I built a cricket for my Dad right before you quit doing kits. We had a ball with it and always got a lot of attention. I was going order the big Duck and you were no longer kitting them. Needless to say I was excited when I stumbled across you site again. Lots of time before June so lets see what happens. We should have 3 or four to take if all goes well. I cut out the foam parts for 2 Agri ducks today so it won't be long before we have a couple flying.

Hey everyone,
I have come to the decision to put off a Duck event until the 2010 flying season. The reason is primarily that the timing of my release of kits (complete Mud Duck Sport kits and Semi-Kits for the MkII and Agri-Duck) has been delayed to issues with my vendors and their release have been delayed too late. I planned on having kits already available but at the current rate the season may be already kicking into full-swing and I doubt many customers will get around to building them (based on my own trend to put off building once the flying season starts).
I think arranging an event for 2010 will provide for more participants which will make the gathering all the more enjoyable!
