A Scary Prospect?

Since kits will not be available until we can offer them at a fair and economical price, the only way to own your own duck other than buying a used one or having someone build one for you, is to build it yourself from plans. Plans!?!?! Yes, to the uninitiated the term "plan" is a four-letter-word!  Visions of hundreds or thousands of critically precise parts, each one getting cut out expertly enters your head and you say "No Thank You" immediately.  In today's world of unlimited A.R.F. offerings the term "plans" almost went extinct until the little park-flyers became popular.

"Piece of Cake!"

Have no fear! If you can trace a line, wield a box cutter and tape together a cardboard box you have about all the talent that is needed to build a Duck.  Although this statement is slightly exaggerated (you need to wield a hobby knife, the wingtips might be too difficult for a box cutter), you really can build a Duck from plans as easily as if you built it from a kit. You only have to cut out a few dozen parts from foam board and balsa all but 5 cuts are strait lines (you can cut a strait line right? You can even cheat and use a strait edge! I won't tell), there are also a handful of 1/8" light-ply parts (about 8 ribs with super simple airfoil on one side) which nearly all also have strait cuts.

Time

So you think you don't have enough time to cut out  the parts?  Well, from most reports I get, most modelers say they cut out all the parts in one or two evenings!  Since almost every edge on a Duck is strait, you can blast right through cutting out your own kit very fast.  Over 90% of Duck construction is of foam board, which cuts very easily with a hobby knife (X-Acto knife).  The limited amount of balsa are also all strait cuts except for the rudder and you would have had to cut that out yourself even in the fit version.

Plans = Big Savings

By building from plans you are only spending a few extra hours on cutting out the parts yourself.  On the other hand, you are saving yourself a lot of money!  This is not because I overcharge for the kits it is because these are "BIG" birds which require large boxes ($$), oversized shipping charges ($$$), and since we are a small company we can not get the kind of discounts for raw materials like bigger companies do and we have no savings to pass on to you.

Support

Besides email support for all your building needs and questions, I have upgraded the website with forums and FAQ's to provide more information available immediately for you.  Besides providing the information you may be looking for, tips and mods, are available to consider using in your Duck.  I try to answer email questions ASAP, I check email regularly throughout the day and can provide responses when time allows.  Weekends I may be away from the computer for most of the day (if the flying weather is too tempting) but check email every evening. I kindly request to refrain from contacting my by phone during weekdays as I work an unrelated job, and can not address your question until 5pm est.

Most plans out there only offer you a construction article or maybe even an instruction manual, with our plans you get a fully illustrated build manual; you get the website, forums and FAQs as an immediate resource throughout your build; Email support, and even building videos!
